Welcome to our kindergarten classroom at Village Elementary School. We hope that you can view this to see some of the exciting things we are learning and doing in our classroom. It's a great place to be!
Pretty Flowers for a Special Class, November 2017
A wonderful friend of Mrs. Foley decided to bring some cheer since lots of us have no power still, these beautiful flowers for our classroom were perfect timing! Great reason to stop and take a class photo, these kiddos are sooooo adorable!
TAKE HOME BOOKS ARE READY!
Each day a student will be chosen to take one of these books home. My hope is that you and your child will take some time reading these books and then your child will have the opportunity to sit in the leader chair and share some favorite pages. I will support them reading to the class. In the back of the books, there is a parent comment page that we will share at morning meeting. We have talked about how it is important they come back on the next school day so that the next student has their turn. We are learning to be responsible learners in kindergarten!
Welcome to an exciting year! 9/5/2017
Today we had our first introduction to the Handwriting Without Tears program. We learned about our alligator grip, stacking our "blocks", and the names of the wooden blocks that we use to build letters. You will see one of the pictures from the lesson below.
We also went to library for the first time and that was very exciting! We are ready to explore the art room on Wednesday.
Please ask your children what our four rules are at school and how we are practicing them everywhere we go. I hope they can name them all and explain how they are already doing very well with these rules.
Attention Parents and Students: In Science we study the life cycle of a Monarch Butterfly. We are in need of one or two Monarch Caterpillars still. My usual location has not produced one and I'd love for the students to have the opportunity to study the life cycle in the classroom with our very own Butterfly house. If you happen to see one, please send the Monarch Caterpillar to our classroom. If you put it in a jar with some milkweed and some holes in the top of a container, we will do the rest. We will still learn about the life cycle either way. Thank you for everything!
